Kangan: After remaining closed for several weeks following the Pahalgam terror attack, the famous tourist destination Naranag in Kangan has finally been thrown open for tourists.
The reopening comes after continuous efforts by MLA Kangan, Mian Mehar Ali, who met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha twice in person and also raised the matter with IGP Kashmir. Speaking exclusively to The-Newscast, Mian Mehar Ali confirmed that he had repeatedly highlighted the matter with top officials and urged them to restore normal tourism operations in the area.
“I met the Hon’ble LG Manoj Sinha twice and raised the concerns of my people. I also spoke to IGP Kashmir regarding the prolonged closure of Naranag. Today, with their support, the tourist spot has been reopened,” said the MLA.
He further added, “We are hopeful that once the Amarnath Yatra concludes peacefully, trekking activities in Kangan’s scenic trails will also resume.”
It is important to mention that The-Newscast has consistently reported on the local residents’ demand for reopening trekking and tourism sites in Kangan, which were closed in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident.
The reopening of Naranag has sparked fresh hope among tourism stakeholders and locals, who believe that such steps will help in reviving the local economy and showcasing the natural beauty of the Kangan region.
