Kangan: In a determined move to safeguard public health, the district administration carried out a comprehensive food safety inspection drive across various bakeries and food outlets in Kangan on Monday. The drive was initiated on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kangan.
Led by the Food Safety Officer, the inspection team uncovered multiple violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006. Several establishments were found neglecting basic hygiene norms and safety protocols critical to ensuring safe consumption. Consequently, authorities imposed fines amounting to ₹6,000 on the erring Food Business Operators (FBOs).
“Ensuring public health by enforcing food safety laws is a top priority,” the Food Safety Officer talking to this reporter added, “These inspections are essential for upholding quality and consumer trust.”
In addition to monetary penalties, the inspection team issued strong warnings to violators, instructing them to comply with food safety standards immediately to avoid more severe action in the future.
The initiative received a positive response from residents of Kangan, many of whom welcomed the strict action. Locals expressed appreciation for the drive and urged the administration to conduct such inspections regularly to prevent unsafe food practices and ensure the well-being of the community.
